Hamish Grotrian has forged a path in architecture art and design. His work to date embodies all facets from the contemporary through to heritage.
Starting his artistic and design development with award winning works as a student, Hamish travelled extensively and extended his love for both art and architecture, embracing the niche for sustainability and particularly sustainable and experimental architecture in London in the late 1990’s.
As a Post Graduate Hamish accepted a position with Sumich Chaplin Architects and served three years professional training before setting up HG Architecture in 2006 and co-founding Studio CO4, an innovative open plan collaborative design studio in Auckland's CBD fringe, which was to span 10 years before Hamish moved and adopted a new village community life with his young family in Devonport on Auckland’s North Shore.
With over 20 years experience in exhibition procurement, including solo exhibitions in New Zealand, Australia and London with his architecture, art and furniture design, combined with over ten years developing his own architecture practise with projects in high-end residential, commercial and interior design.
Hamish is committed to environmental wellbeing through appropriate design principals, and is driven to create beautiful and functional architecture.
Hamish’s ability to conceptualise innovation with a practical and pragmatic approach through solution based design has led to the development of Pavilion Architecture with Guy Davies.
Pavilion for Hamish is about creating value and opportunity for its clients, to experience the joy of forward thinking architecture through strong spatial awareness, innovation in design, attention to the detail, and active engagement within the team based design process.
